Preface
The first time that Paul and Emily and Ellie went on vacation and left the bookstore in the hands of the Bonney Boys, nothing unusual or exciting happened at all. For ten days, Jack, Cable and Quinn arrived at the store just before ten in the morning and unlocked the doors. One of them would turn the lights on, another would roll the big wooden sign that says “We Buy Books” out onto the brick sidewalk, and the third would make coffee and sweeten it with hazelnut flavored coffeemate. Then for eight long hours, they’d sit and wait for something to happen.
The second time that Paul and Emily and Ellie went on vacation and left the bookstore in the hands of the Bonney Boys, they bought a collection of original Gold and Silver Age comic books from a retired professor at the college. Ten days later, Paul and Emily and Ellie returned to discover that the Boys had already doubled their money by putting them on eBay and that was without even selling the first 25 issues of the Amazing Spider Man. The boys were allowed to keep those for themselves.
After that, it wasn’t unusual to find a couple of the boys in the bookstore every weekend or even after school during the week.
So the third time that Paul and Emily and Ellie went on vacation and left the bookstore in the hands of the Bonney Boys…
